petsr.org is a voluntary charitable project designed for rescues and rescuers alike.

The site was inspired when I had trouble finding listings of rescue animals on the web in particular our Guinea Pigs. Yes, there were some out there, but there were also so many rescues which may have also had something to offer but either did not have listings or did not have the time or know how to get a site on the web.

I myself build websites as both a career and a hobby, so I decided I would put together something that would solve this problem.

I had a 2 aims which I identified would be important:

• It must be easy for a rescuer to add their animals to the site. Rescuers are busy people so they need to spend as little time on manual entry.
• It must be flexible for those with specific requirements. On some sites (not necessarily rescue sites) I often found search facilities were not specific enough. I aimed to make the search facility here as flexible as possible.

On top of these I also decided to add:

• RSS feeds for all content, in particular search results so visitors would not have to keep coming back to the site to see if something new had been added. Instead, new content would come to them.
• A search facility which searched all the rescuers on the site, so visitors could use the site as a rescue directory too.

I hope I have achieved these aims, but I would still like hear from anyone with any suggestions of improvements, or if anyone has any problems, so I can continually improve the site.
